I have been battling severe reflux for years. In February, I had my gallbladder removed and I have had issues ever since. My reflux is worse, which is typical since the gallbladder is no longer there to store bile. Instead, the bile will constantly drain into the intestine causing bile reflux gastritis. Even though I know acid reducers such as Prilosec only alleviate symptoms and do not cure the underlying issue, I felt the need to take them because of the discomfort. However, after reading a recent article by Dr. Raphael Kellman, I have decided to kick it to the curb.
I am going to try two different holistic routes as suggested on the Dr. Weil website. One is d-limonene, which “stimulates esophageal peristalsis, helping move acid and liquids back into the stomach.” The other is deglycyrrhizinated licorice (DGL). I will give an update on which works best. Please comment if you have tried these methods as well.
